A Writer Takes Apart His Own Stories for Your Amusement and Morbid Curiosity

In this reading and craft-intensive class, the instructor will offer his own work up for critique, walking you through a number of stories and excerpts from his novels, leading discussions on how they were written. In addition to considering “The Littlest Hitler,” “The End of Ernie and Bert,” and “Robot Sex,” he’ll offer up some selections that he considers failed attempts and humiliating missteps in an attempt to answer the question, “What went wrong?”

Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.

If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.

If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.

If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.
