Character Building

We’ll explore the needs, desires, failures, and hopes of the characters in your story, memoir, or novel using questions inspired by the Humans of New York (HONY) blog. HONY has gone viral on Facebook, thanks in large part to the intriguing captions that accompany Brandon Stanton’s photographs. The interview questions he asks his subjects—what was the worst day of your life, what was your happiest moment, what’s your greatest struggle—are the basis of any character.

Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.

If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.

If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.

If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.
