Creative Nonfiction Workshop: Style and Structure (Kirkland)

This roundtable workshop for writers of all levels will focus on structure and style. Receive feedback and instruction to increase the impact of your nonfiction prose (memoir, essay, etc.), including thoughtful critiques on at least one of your pieces (20 pages or fewer). Learn to identify stylistic and structural characteristics in others’ work. In-class prompts, writing exercises, and readings from authors such as Joan Didion, Lydia Davis, Phillip Lopate, and Pico Iyer will spice up our weekly conversations. Each week, you’ll read and write comments about the manuscript to be workshopped. This class will meet at the Kirkland Arts Center (620 Market Street, Kirkland, WA 98033).

Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.

If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.

If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.

If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.
