Creative Vulnerability

All Levels | Working with Brené Brown’s definition of vulnerability as uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure, this course will explore ways of moving through artistic fear and freeing writers from the confines of perfectionism. Since the antidote of shame is not discipline but empathy, we will create a supportive environment where writers can share and relate to each other. Participants are asked to bring a “problem piece” of any genre, and we will use exercises to generate new material.

Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.

If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.

If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.

If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.
