“Now is not the time for realistic fiction,” Margaret Atwood said recently on NPR. We’ll look at methods used by a wide array of authors to subvert, negate, and depart from reality to introduce the strange and otherworldly into your work. Students will read and discuss samples before applying lessons to their own outlines and drafts. Whether you don’t know where to begin or are midway through a work-in-progress, you’ll learn the rules in order to break them.
Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.
If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.
If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.
If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.
