Yearlong Manuscript Class in Prose

An updated version of the original yearlong class at Hugo House, this advanced course is for students working in either fiction or nonfiction. The class will contain a mix of genres, and the models we look at will be from excellent contemporary literary fiction and nonfiction.

Meets for 30 sessions + Publishing Day intensive

Yearlong Cancellation Policy: Cancellations 3 days or more before a class, class credit or transfers will be issued less a $15 fee. Refunds will be issued less a $35 fee. 3 days or more before the start of the second class meeting, class credit, transfers, or refunds of 66% will be issued.

Beginning Fall 2021, we will be adding select in-person classes back to our course catalog. The majority of our classes will still be offered via Zoom.

If a class says IN-PERSON in its title, it will take place in person at our permanent home in Seattle.

If a class says ASYNCHRONOUS in its title, it will take place on Wet Ink, our asynchronous learning platform.

If a class does not have a marker after its title, it will take place via Zoom.

Peter Mountford

Peter Mountford’s novel A Young Man’s Guide to Late Capitalism won a 2012 Washington State Book Award. His second novel, The Dismal Science, was published in February, 2014. A former Hugo House writer in residence, Peter is currently on faculty at Sierra Nevada College's low residency MFA program.
